An award from the
RAF Careers Club Development Fund has given Scarborough Seahawks
Basketball Club a significant boost. This is the third year the
club has been successful in its application for club development
money.
Steve Race, the club’s Head Coach,
was delighted by the news of the continued support and commented;
“We have received this award from
the RAF since the Club Development fund scheme began. We are very
pleased to still receive this financial support for our Under 18
National League Team. The money will be used for travel expenses,
buying kit, court hire and training for the team”.
Corporal Simon Brown, a local Armed
Forces Careers Officer attended a team training session on Thursday,
7th December 2006 to present the £500 cheque.
The RAF Careers Club Development
Fund is part of the RAF’s overall sponsorship of the England National
Junior Basketball Leagues. Now in the eighth year of sponsorship,
a total of £40,000 has been distributed to the successful applicants
this season.
By sponsoring basketball at a grassroots
level, the RAF believes it can add considerable benefits to the teams
competing, through its financial assistance and hands on support. |
