Last night saw our seniors team play Hull Supremos in the Humber Basketball League, and they took home a 65-55 win for their first game of the season. Keep it up guys!

Thanks to Trevor Owen Photography for some great pictures of the action.

MATCH REPORT: Scarborough Seahawks Senior Men 65 – 55 Hull Supremos Prem

The Scarborough Seahawks kicked off their Humberside Premier League season with a

hard-fought 65–55 victory over Hull Supremos. Fielding a well-balanced squad of seasoned

veterans and hungry youth talent, the Seahawks relied on paint dominance, active perimeter

defense, and timely transition scoring to secure the opening-night win.

Marcin Dominates Early

Scarborough leaned heavily into their size advantage from the tip-off. Marcin Dobruchowski set

an aggressive tone inside, controlling both the offensive and defensive glass while punishing

Hull around the rim to account for 8 of the team's first 10 points. Matthew Noble provided steady

muscle on the boards, while Alex Lawson controlled the floor tempo with poise and precision.

Hull answered back behind scoring from Gilbert Cutamora and Robbie Perey, but late

first-quarter baskets from Brandon Neale and Harley Jowett kept Scarborough ahead 14–10

going into the second.

High-Energy Defense & Zone Control

Hull clawed back in the second period with perimeter baskets from Marlon San Antonio, but

Scarborough held firm through smart ball movement. Ben Musk finished inside with authority,

while player-coach Steve Brown checked in to sink an "and-one" 3-point play to keep the

momentum grounded.

On the defensive end, Kieren Moore set the standard, acting like an absolute hound at the top

of the Seahawks' zone defense to generate ball reversals and half-court turnovers. Alex

Lawson, Harley Jowett, and Tyler Neale all rotated seamlessly through the backcourt,

maintaining the defensive pressure and restricting Hull’s open perimeter looks.

Harley Catches Fire in the Second Half

After Hull briefly tied the score at 39–39 in the third quarter, Scarborough’s fast-break game

ignited.

Harley Jowett exploded across the second half, draining a baseline three, pushing off defensive

stops, and repeatedly getting to the rim on the break. Just as crucial was Harley's disciplined,

vocal effort on the defensive end, helping turn stops into instant fast-break points.

Alex Lawson was vital down the stretch, driving into the teeth of the lane for key layups to finish

with 12 points and keep the Supremos chasing. Despite late fouls, Harley iced the contest with

back-to-back fastbreak finishes in the closing seconds to lock in the 10-point victory.

Marcin’s absolute monster performance on the boards and early interior execution set the

physical standard that won the match.
